Neopets Rubbish Dump

The Meridell Rubbish Dump is one of those places in Neopia (Meridell to be exact) that is usually overlooked. The blue Kacheek named Charlie runs the dump. He greets you with his bad attitude. Not only that, his sense of smell is most likely just as bad.

All trash whether it be stinky, sticky, gross, or ugly, it all ends up in the Rubbish Dump. There are a select few Neopians who dare search through the Rubbish Dump to find so called “treasures”. Sure they smell bad after (but this is a game so it doesn’t really matter), with trash all over themselves, it has been rumored the some lucky individuals find rare items, or items that are worth something in there.

The Meridell Rubbish Dump was created on 14th July, 2003 and is situated right outside of Meri Acres Farm. It bears some similarities to the Money Tree in that it is a place to get free items, said to be donated by others. In the case of the Rubbish Dump however, the donors are not users, but inhabitants of Neopia. Among these donors are King Skarl and the Dung Faerie.

Merchandise has been almost entirely discontinued save for a line of enamel pins released by Overpowered in 2018. Neopets wikipedia. Neopets, Inc.

There's also a small joke that usually causes users new to the Rubbish Dump to slightly panic. Occasionally, an item at the Rubbish Dump is claimed to be donated by a user (meaning also one's own username can be claimed to be the donor) who is refreshing at the Rubbish Dump. Of course, that user never donated anything to the Rubbish Dump, if only because it's impossible.

Aug 15, 2018 I've been refreshing at the Rubbish Dump, and so far managed to pick up one Meridell Gravy, no avatar yet. I guess it's awarded randomly, or an even worse but less likely case, awarded randomly when you pick up a specific item. Items donated or discarded by neopians can never end up at the Meridell Rubbish Dump. Anything donated goes to the Money Tree and anything discarded disappears permanently.
